King of Pop Michael Jackson and singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Presley’s marriage certificate has been sold for USD 70,800 at an auction. Jackson married Lisa, daughter of legendry singer Elvis Presley on May 26 in 1994. According to website news, the certificate which has signatures of both the star was issued to the couple following a 15-minute secrete ceremony in the Dominican Republic.
The auction of the document took place on Saturday with an opening price of USD 27,000. The bidding war sparked between two collectors who vied top bids for the item of their beloved singer.
After winning the bid the anonymous winner said, “My wife and I have been collecting autographs and memorabilia since 1973. Several years ago, we were outbid on the marriage certificate signed by Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller and I did not want to miss the chance to own this one. We were very excited.”
