THE 2011 awards season is hotting up. Colin Firth, Natalie Portman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams, Carey Mulligan and Helen Mirren took to the red carpet at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards over the weekend.

Colin Firth - in an Alexander McQueen suit - picked up his first award, the Desert Palm Achievement Actor Award, for his portrayal of George VI in The King's Speech, while Natalie Portman - in Vionnet - won the Desert Palm Achievement Actress Award for Black Swan.
Other red carpet stars included Aaron Eckhart, Ben Affleck (who won the Chairman's Award), and The Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg - who was part of the Ensemble Performance Award-winning cast.
