Online Critics Swoon for 'Swan,' Diss 'King,' Dodge 'Fighter

Just as Oscar ballots go out, the Online Film Critics Society does its best for Black Swan (seven noms) and The Social Network (six noms), a bit less for The King's Speech and The Fighter.
Though the Onliners bowed to the Oscar inevitable -- nominating actors Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, Melissa Leo and Christian Bale (and also the non-inevitable King's Speech writer David Seidler and the highly possible but non-inevitable The Fighter supporting actress Amy Adams) -- they pointedly left both The King's Speech and The Fighter off the best picture list. They may not pack a wallop with AMPAS voters, but just when The Fighter's hopes were heating up and The King's Speech was losing mindshare to The Social Network, the omission has got to sting just a little. Especially since Network got noms for best film, director, actor, editing, supporting actor (often-overlooked Andrew Garfield) and adapted screenplay (never-overlooked Aaron Sorkin).
