‘Dear John’ Replaces ‘Avatar’ from No1 Position

Amanda Seyfried and Channing Tatum in Dear John Latest released movie ‘Dear John’ has finally replaced sci-fi love story “Avatar” from no. 1 position.
According to the latest news, Sony’s Screen Gems banner, “Dear John” collected $32.4 million in the debut weekend and broke Avatar’s seven week long spell.
The film has a record opening for Super Bowl weekend, topping the $31.1 million debut for Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert in 2008.
Head of distribution of Sony Studio, Rory Bruer said, “It is very cool to know that it was our movie that audiences just totally embraced and made No. 1 for the weekend.” About blockbuster “Avatar,” he quipped, “I think they’re going to be fine in the long run.”
Director James Cameron’s “Avatar” slipped to No. 2 with $23.6 million, raising its domestic total to $630.1 million.

Talking about loosing the top position, 20th Century Fox distribution executive Bert Livingston said, “It had to happen sometime. There’s nothing that could disappoint me with this movie.”
Most Hollywood movies usually dropped out of the top 10 rankings by the eighth weekend but “Avatar” is still going strong.
‘Dear John’ is the American romantic drama/war film starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried. The movie is based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks. The romantic saga of Soldier suits the flavor of this Valentine week.
The other releases of this week are Lionsgate’s spy story “From Paris With Love,” and Fox Searchlight’s acclaimed country-music tale “Crazy Heart”. According to the box office collection the current top 10 movie are:
