Police Investigate Suspected Double Murder

A 45-year-old man has been arrested after a mother and son were found dead in a suspected double murder.

Thames Valley Police were called to an address in Banbury, Oxfordshire at 6.45am.
Officers found the bodies of two people: a woman in her 40s and a man in his 20s.
A man, believed to be the mother's former partner, was arrested at an address in Swindon shortly after 11am.
The two daughters of the female victim were in the property at the time of the incident.
The eldest of the two, who is in her late teens, was seriously injured but managed to get out of the house.
The younger daughter, aged 13, was unharmed.
In a press conference, Detective Inspector Steve Duffy said: "As you can appreciate, officers went to the address and were faced with a horrific scene.

"There were two people obviously dead or very close to death at the scene.
"All I can confirm is their injuries are consistent with blunt trauma and I can't say if an axe was used but a firearm was not used."
He told reporters there was "background" to the case and that it was not a random attack.
Earlier a neighbour, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "They only moved in recently.
"There was a man as well but I don't know if he lived there. I just saw him coming and going."
Over 40 police officers are working on the investigation and post-mortem examinations will be carried out on the bodies later.
